Spring Clean Your Digestive System
Spring has officially arrived, which has us all up in a serious cleaning frenzy! There’s something about the longer daylight hours and new life growing from the earth that triggers a desire to give everything a good polishing and re-organization; hence the expression ‘spring clean.’
From around the house to the yard, and perhaps—most importantly—within our own bodies, we’re on a mission to clean up!
It’s simple enough to pick up a broom and mop, sort a few boxes, and get rid of junk around the house you no longer have any use for. But initiating a good clean within our bodies might seem a little more daunting!
Essentially, the best way to begin a good spring clean is by focusing on polishing up your digestive system. In the spirit of March being Colon Cancer Awareness Month, we think these tips are quite fitting:
More Fiber
Natura fiber can help add more fiber to your diet. Our product is made of primarily flax seed, which is the ultimate fiber superhero. In addition to flax, natura fiber also contains psyllium husk, which is also a great cleanse ingredient.
By adding natura fiber to your existing diet, you can turn almost all your favorite foods into high-fiber superstars. Check out this blog post, where we list our other favorite high-fiber foods for cleansing.
More Water
The best way to spring clean your digestive system is by drinking more water. Make a conscious effort to drink at least 2-3 litres of water a day to assist your body to flush out toxins and keep your colon lubricated and functioning smoothly.
Aside from water, fresh pressed juices are also a great way to clean your digestive system. These aren’t for everyone though, so do your research and understand what might work best for you, first.
More Rest, Less Stress
Good digestive health includes managing stress and getting proper rest. Making certain lifestyle changes aren’t always easy to do, as it may be dependent on your job or where you live. However, identifying anxiety-provoking stressors like certain foods, people, or sleep deprivation, and learning to manage them differently, is a big start.
Think about that yucky feeling in your gut when you are tired and stressed. That is your digestive system taking the brunt of it!
Better Exercise
Exercise and staying active goes hand in hand with improving the function of your digestive system. Simply heading outside to go for a walk every day for a minimum of 30 minutes will make a huge difference in how your body absorbs and processes the foods you eat.
Another bonus: you are more likely to manage a healthy body weight through regular exercise and feel more motivated to eat a regular healthy diet to keep excess weight off.
So go for it—take Spring on like a champ and get cleaning! Your house and your health will thank you. Learn where you can pick up a bag of natura fiber to add to your diet for even better digestive health benefits.
